Thursday, Sept, 30 2010A-7:00- START MEETING: Acting Chairperson Dorothea Poggi will announce the meeting and the basic goals of NEBCA.  NEBCA was formed to unite the various Civic Group Leaders in a “Think Tank” type forum where we could support each other and learn from each other while voluntarily leading our members to a Better N.E. Bronx.  *We may someday choose to become a nonprofit that can obtain our own funds for various community strengthening events. from NEBCA. The “umbrella” fiscal sponsor for smaller groups does not seem to be a comfortable goal and after more deliberation may be eliminated? Even so we may still help guide our directors in ways to ensure the prosperity and growth of our community.Educational programs, Holiday events, Pet and Wild Critter Care, Park maintenance and redesign, and a Strong Volunteer Organization that can accomplish various projects within our chosen area are some of the things we may work on.We are encouraged to attend others meetings and help rally support for the areas represented in our group. We rely on our Elected Officials and Community Board to help us in this quest. The North East Bronx Community Alliance (NEBCA) has been hosting various “workshop type” meetings to help aim our community to become a more sustainable part of Bronx NY.   So Far we have had:· Dept. of City Planning meet with us on the Waterfront agenda· Harvest Home had a  representative discuss our interest in a Farmers Market (or 2) in our area,·  “Non-Profit Workshop”, sponsored by the Legal Aid Society, organized by Bronx Community Board #10 was an interesting and informative meeting. We hope you had some of your questions answered and can use this information to gather funds for your organization. When your organization grows, the entire community is strengthened and it is easier to maintain and enhance the NE Bronx in the future. C-7:15 PM-  Marcia Pavlica will hopefully brief us on the Budget Meeting updateD-7:25 PM – To Ascertain priorities for main discussion: “Round Robin Report”: 3 minutes or less...what each committee has been working on...    Dear NEBCA Board of Directors:Please correct or fill in info we covered at the last meeting for Lynn and Anne who were not present. Hello Lynn and Anne, we missed you...Lynn congrats on another successful St. Pats parade and Anne get well soon.I will try to work up some complete minutes sooner than later...The basics discussed were:
  1. We have been receiving hits on our website. People looking to contact our Directors.
  2. Recording (for our ears only) minutes (with permission) in order to keep our small group engaged without losing an important persons feedback to "secretary".
  3. Distributing the minutes through email and maybe at next meeting?
  4. Collecting information from Dana of Sen. Kleins office about 501c3/4 or charity status...In order to become an umbrella fiscal sponsor for all 5 or more groups (except you?)to request money and grants for our community individually with acceptable status.
  5. Request for the head of the group(Community Action????) to atttend a meeting.
  6. We would also be requesting money to operate as NEBCA as the base organization?
  7. We discussed the ongoing problems as usual (graffiti/parking/foreclosures/drainage/sewers/etc.)
  8. We each contributed different paths that may work to help these problems.
  9. We discussed having NEBCA in the news more with designated Photo Ops at Participating Events with a nice banner.
  10.  These photos would be [placed on our website as well as in Bx Times etc. Any photos or articles we have of our separate fights can be included as well under our various buttons.
This maturing NEBCA would actually be what we originally discussed and continued to be, a group of community leaders joining together to make the area stronger. This heading would label the cooperative work of individual community/civic/taxpayer groups? and others like park groups? that can use a fiscal sponsor to gather funding to help our area of the Bronx. With this Umbrella of legal support, we would gain a more independent source of funding
